Badgers Wrestling Notebook: UW inks three in Class of 2020

A trio of high school recruits made their commitments to the University of Wisconsin wrestling team official Wednesday as they signed National Letters of intent.

Braxton Amos, Joseph Zargo, and Wisconsin-native Aidan Medora are set to be part of UW’s incoming freshman class next year – a class that is ranked No. 10 nationally by FloWrestling.

Amos is the most highly-touted of the three.

He’s ranked third in the nation among all senior high school recruits, according to FloWrestling’s 2020 Big Board.

Flo tabs him as the No. 1 high school wrestler in the land at 220 pounds.

The Mineral Wells, West Virgina product carries a record of 94-0 at Parkersburg South High School.

Amos was a 2019 Junior Freestyle national champion and is projected to wrestle at 197 pounds for Wisconsin.

Zargo hails from South River, New Jersey and competes for national powerhouse Bergen Catholic.

He is currently No. 36 on Flo’s 2020 Big Board and is ranked No. 11 in the country at 145 pounds.

Zargo is a two-time Fargo All-American and a 2018 FloNationals champion.

It is projected he will begin his college career at the 149-pound weight class.

Medora rounds out the signees.

He is a three-time WIAA state finalist and two-time champion, boasting a career record of 105-4 for Brookfield Academy.

Medora projects to join the Badgers contingent at 141 or 149.
