The UW-Stevens Point women’s wrestling team is the No. 9 team in the country according to the first-ever National Wrestling Coaches Association NCAA women’s wrestling coaches poll that was released Tuesday.
The Pointers received 22 points, placing them one point ahead of No. 10 Adrian College and three points back of No. 8 Tiffin University.
Junior Brooke Thurber was the highest-ranked UWSP wrestler. She is No. 2 at 109 pounds.
Senior Jessica Rottier is ranked fifth at 170 while freshman Abby Nelson is No. 8 at 116.
Lakeland University also had wrestlers in the individual rankings. The Muskies were represented by sophomore Maddie Ruckdashel who checked-in at No. 8 at 132 pounds.
