Five Wisconsin wrestlers claimed championships at the Roadrunner Open in Bakersfield, Cali. Sunday.

Eli Stickley (141 pounds), Zander Wick (149), Ryan Christensen (174), No.20 Evan Wick (165) and No.11 Ricky Robertson (184) each finished tops in their respective weight classes.

Stickley bested teammate Cole Martin 6-3 in the championship match at 141 pounds. He ended his day with a perfect 4-0 record.

Stone ready to step up for UW

After two years waiting in the wings, redshirt sophomore Ben Stone is now the starting heavyweight for the Wisconsin wrestling team.

Stone came to UW as an accomplished prep wrestler. During his time at Cumberland (Wis.) High School he accumulated 140 wins, the second most of any grappler in school history, and broke the program record for single-season wins on two different occasions.

Wednesday was a fruitful day for the Wisconsin wrestling team.

Five recruits inked National Letters of Intent, formally committing to the Badgers as part of the early signing period.

This offseason was an unfortunately eventful one for the UW-Parkside wrestling program.

Back in June, then-head coach Gregg Lewis stepped down after six seasons. Parkside was in the process of elevating its head wrestling coach from a part-time to full-time position and Lewis wanted to dedicate more time to his family.

Last season was a step in the right direction for the Wisconsin wrestling team.

Following the Badgers’ first losing season in three years, the 2016-17 UW squad posted a 7-5 dual record, tied for eighth at the Big Ten Championships and finished 19^th at the NCAA Tournament.

Super 32 roundup: Laurent wins title, six Wisconsin wrestlers place

Denmark’s Jayden Laurent captured the crown at 148 pounds at Super 32 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Though Super 32 has long been regarded as one of the premier high school wrestling tournaments in the nation, 2017 marked the first year of girls freestyle competition at the event.
